You know you grew up in the 90’s when you sing Why, Why, Why, Why, Why in an N’sync tune..(tell me you did too!)
So if you don’t have a why you have a why not. This won’t be the first time you hear me say this and it sure as hell won’t be the last time I say it. Goals, Vision and most importantly a WHY for your business are so pivotal. If you haven’t downloaded my First 4 Steps to Complete When Launching and Relaunching you need to! This is STEP 1 because it’s that important!
First off if you are thinking, “I don’t have a business yet I am just getting started.” Friend, you have a business if you shift your mind and tell yourself you have a business.
What is a why? A why is a reason you get out of bed in the morning, it is something that drives and motivates you every day ESPECIALLY when things are hard. Life gets hard, business gets hard I would be lying to you if I said it was easy and we’re friends (right?) and friends don’t lie to each other. So you need a why. Your why will change throughout your business and in life. My why was a discount when I first started so that I could take care of my product addiction but my why quickly shifted to doing whatever I needed to do to quit my 8-5. Flash forward 3 years, now my why is totally different again!
I was always told your why isn’t big enough unless it makes you cry. I really thought to myself, does it really have to make me cry? I don’t like crying, never have. Being real here, I am just not a big cryer. So just make sure your why is moving. That it gives you joy when you think about it and it really does make you want to sit at your desk on a 80 degree beautiful day and do work instead of go on the lake because you are success obsessed and have things to accomplish.
Whether you are launching and are brand spanking new, to what you just said yes to or you are knee deep in business and find yourself floundering, you need to sit your butt down and think about our why. As odd as it sounds your why is the purpose that will give you direction and allow you to say no to things that don’t fit. As an example, if you wanted to pay for your daughter’s gymnastics or cheer you are going to be super laser focused on creating income and growing your business so that you can make the specific amount of money to do so and stop at nothing until you get there. Am I right? You wouldn’t want to disappoint your daughter. You might say a why is like the destination and your goals are going to be the road/steps to get you there.
If you don’t have a why, do you see how when a bump in the road happens, you have put in some real work, or something in life happens you might just say screw it all? You got started for a reason, write that reason down, create your why and recreate your why as often as you need to so you don’t say screw it. This will give you a reason to pick yourself up with you have failed, fallen or are doubtful and push you to keep going!
What’s your why? Write it down, look at it often! If you don’t have one, what are you waiting for download my freebie and get to creating one!
