You know what’s exciting NEW… New is always exciting. You aren’t burnt out, sick of looking at it, sick of thinking about it. New is awesome. You know what’s also awesome? Taking something that might not be as good and making it NEW again, looking at it in a NEW perspective and figuring out how to constantly reinvent it. I think they call it upcycling… taking “garbage” or something old and using it to make something new.
Maybe this is you, maybe you need a reinvention, maybe you aren’t feeling like yourself or you have changed physically or emotionally and you are over it and ready for NEW. Maybe your business has gone stale, stagnant along with your attitude towards it, and you just don’t know how to reinvent it. Taking a NEW perspective and making NEW goals always seems to help! Getting creative and trying NEW things will also make it feel NEW.
So I was in a funk with my business and it took me buying a new business to realize. Holy shit I really wasn’t putting in the effort needed to reinvent, recreate and have my business feeling NEW everyday. Did you hear what I just said… I realized I wasn’t putting in the effort needed. I was putting in the time, but not spending that time in the right places, with the right people, on the right actions. It was old, stale, dying and boring. It didn’t excite me. The thought of rebuilding because I let my business get to a place of rebuild pushed me even further away from the reinvention, recreation and desire to feel NEW. I will tell you though. Starting a NEW business is way harder than finding the NEW in an old business. Metros other woman is NEW and challenging and in a lot of ways things I have never done before so it’s allowing me to hone my skills and its fun. Looking at my “old” business and figuring out how to make it new has also been amazing. It’s pushed me hard than when it was actually new making me a better businesswoman and leader! What would be easy would be to give up and throw in the towel because the NEW is still so shiny but I want success and to me, that doesn’t look like throwing in the towel. Maybe washing the towel, bleaching it and using some fabric softener to try to make it new or at least smell and look new again. Can I also just say… I realized starting a new business what I thought was “hard work” wasn’t hard work it was just harder than when it was easy. Let that sink in a minute… is it hard because it’s old or it’s just harder than when it was easy?
Think about it, for the most part I was spending time in the wrong areas… that’s an easy fix. Set some new goals and prioritize where to spend my time. Boom recreation and reinvention can commence. If you do this even in one area it will feel exciting again!
How fun is it to get to find new ways to make money with skills you already have and a business you already know how to operate. If it’s been fun and successful before, it sure can be again. What are others doing to find the NEW in their business? Try those things….don’t copy but make them your own!
If it’s NEW and working for another company why couldn’t it work for you? I mean have you seen some of those girls they are rocking their businesses doing some things I would have never even thought of!
Do you only use one platform socially for your business? If its old and boring to you try a NEW one.
Upcycle your business and make it look, feel and seem new (even if you are trying to accomplish the same end goal)
What will you do today to upcycle yourself, your thoughts and your business?
