Getting abs (or even just a flat stomach) is like building a business. Hear me out; abs, we all want them but only some are will to work for them. If you are like me you hit up the gym, you leave, and you look in the mirror and say, “WTH where are my abs?” You think to yourself- I did the work, I made it to the gym and I crunched and did sit ups like nobody’s business and yet no abs. HMM, maybe they will be there tomorrow and you repeat your steps. Then, when tomorrow comes and you still have no abs you say screw it, this is hard! A month goes by and you decide you want to give it a go again. Same shit happens, still no abs. People say abs are created in the kitchen, 80% diet and 20% workout. It is the combination of the two that create health and the look most of us want.
When looking at your business it takes consistency, determination and motivation just like it would to get that bikini body. To get to the top it takes more than just one day of hard work or two days in a row every month to create a successful business. It also takes a combination of selling and leadership to really get the best results. ALSO similar to working out and getting healthy, if you take a break all the momentum you built up comes crashing down and when you decide it’s for you again, you may be starting over OR far from the results you are looking for. You can’t just take a year off of working out and decide, whelp today I am going to compete in a fitness competition. It doesn’t work like that. You will not only be disappointed that you didn’t finish or place but you will question working to get back there and if it is worth it.
Every summer this is me, I take time off from working out and I eat, drink beer, and let loose. I tell myself it’s just a couple months and I want to live life. WELL, the Tuesday after Labor Day I say, “Ok time to get back at it.” It’s hard to get that momentum back, hard to even step into the gym. I start feeling guilty about where I let myself get to and now it’s the end of the year and I am still telling myself I need to get back in the gym. This is SO LIKE a business in the direct sales world! You take what seems like a short period of time off, you stop working your business, you stop following up, you stop booking parties and then when you want to get going, you are like WTH, I flipped the light switch to turn back on my business. Why do I not have a full calendar and recruits knocking down my door?
So how are you running your business? Are you consistent in making it successful? Have you taken just a short time off? I can tell you that you CAN get that momentum back, and you CAN get your business and your bikini body back on point, but it will take time and effort. Here are 4 things I would start TODAY to get your business or your abs back to where you want them!
- Decide NOW is the time. Don’t wait for tomorrow or be a somedayer because that someday will never happen and excuses will keep flowing in. Make a decision and put a stake in the ground and make it a non-negotiable.
- Once you have said today is the day. Take 10 min and set some goals for where you want your business or your abs to be in the next month, next 90 days and what actionable items you need to take to get there.
- Find someone in your life that you can share your vision for the next 30-90 days with that will help hold you accountable and on track (don’t pick a negative nelly or someone with a negative vision) you need someone that also is motivated and moving in the direction you would you like to go. You can also pick someone that has completed what you are looking to accomplish.
- MAKE IT HAPPEN, look at your goals daily and make sure you are on track with your actions. Sit down and do the things that you don’t want to first! Take that first step “into the gym” or back into your business!
