NFL Mania is what the most recent company incentive was called. NFL MANIA…. If you think about it mania is defined by Merriam-Webster Dictionary as: an excessive enthusiasm or desire; an obsession or mental illness marked by periods of great excitement, euphoria, delusions, and overactivity. The description of the event sounded so awesome and fits perfection with what I am about for my business. The chance to be ONE consultant in the company to win a LIFETIME experience to go to the Super Bowl would be more than epic. I was talking with my husband and told him I wanted to go for it. I had two months to push to earn it and I was trying to finish earn our trip to the Dominican also. So either way pushing for this incentive would help me earn both! I knew I needed to map out a plan of attack, figure out my strategy and target who I was marketing to.
We had gone to our friend Mike’s house that night and I was picking his brain about some strategies. Where would I find moms or women that LOVE football enough to want to wear their teams NFL logo on their fingers? Mike and his wife helped me come up with a ton of ideas that night and while we were talking my husband said, “If you win, why don’t you take Mike? He would enjoy it way more than I would. “ –back story, my husband is the TOTAL opposite of an extreme fan, even going as far as to compare his excitement of going to the Super Bowl with that of getting VIP tickets to an AKC dog show. So it was that night we made the deal. Mike and Chanen (his wife) would help me come up with ideas, help me sell and market these wraps and if I win I take him to the Super Bowl. It was perfect because if I won Brandon and Chanen were going to come hang out also! After all the game was just one day!
I marketed, did paid Facebook ads on my business page, made everything I was doing on all my social networks about our NFL Collection by Jamberry. I reached out to personally to all my football loving friends and customers to make sure they not only ha their Christmas present for the women in their life but that they also had what they needed going into playoffs. I got my customers and VIPS to post on their pages working the referral channels and since Mike is a coach for an NFL flag football league this also ended up being a great place to find football lovers. Moms will always support their kiddos!!
I think for me what helped is I kept track of every sale, every point earned through all of the different routes and kept pushing, not giving up until the incentive finished. I didn’t know if I was ahead but I knew that I just needed to keep going. When you stop is when you get beat. Worse case I would have sales and points towards my trip to the Dominican and I would still get commission; so there really was no worse case.
It was exciting along the way! Mike is a diehard Raiders fan and they were doing really well this year. The Seahawks were also doing awesome! (I am not a diehard fan but being from Seattle that is where my loyalty lies.) It would have been so awesome for either team to make it but OH MY GOSH. The game that played out for Super Bowl 51 was AMAZING.
I found out I won at our Executive retreat in front of a room full of people that inspire me and that I look up to. That was an amazing moment followed by TWO phone calls that had me jumping up and down, screaming, laughing and shedding tears of happiness. One to my husband first to tell him I DID IT. Hearing your husbands excitement for your success and be so proud of you is really the best feeling out there. The second call to Mike where he kept saying, “ Are you for real? You’re not joking? We are going to the Super Bowl?”
FLASH FORWARD to Super Bowl weekend>>>
My Husband had to make a call not to go. He had to much money tied up at home and with his business to head out for the weekend (he is obsessed about his business as I am with mine, which I totally respect and understand)
We arrived on Friday in Houston and checked into the hotel, applied wraps on Mike and Chanen and figured that it would be less crowded at the NFL Experience if we went Friday instead of going over the weekend. We were totally right! There were just enough people there. There were lines for a couple of things and we were able to look around and take it all in. Just the energy everywhere we went in Houston was amazing. People were pumped and excited to be there whether they were from out of town or a local.
Since we were on vacation we all slept in on Saturday and didn’t really have plans so we decided to go to Top Golf. If you haven’t been to Top Golf you need to go. It is like a bowling alley, a dart board, and a golf driving range combined. You can get food and drinks while you play. It was such a great time and again you need to go if you haven’t been before. Saturday night we went out to this AMAZING restaurant called Brennan’s for a nice dinner. It was great food with a creole twist. We had turtle soup, which I wasn’t too sure about but it was great. It tasted like a hearty meatball soup. Of course since it was creole inspired we ended dinner with beignets YUM….reminded me of good times in NOLA. The town was crazy that night. Everyone was amped, pumped and excited for the game the next day. We stayed out later than we wanted but people watched, and had so much fun. I love football fans. They are so passionate about their teams and not ashamed to scream it to the world. I wish more people was that passionate about their businesses! Think of the success they could find!
Game day was awesome. I will never forget this experience and will probably never have the opportunity to go to another Super Bowl in my lifetime. The game couldn’t have been better. It was in fact one of the most record breaking historical Super Bowls! BUT the day started with a Lady Antebellum concert at the tailgating event which was included in the package! I got to meet THE Evander Holyfield and the seats were over the top, out of the world! I could feel the heat from the pyrotechnics as the Patriots ran out of the tunnel! Lady Gaga was such a performance. It is just amazing the showmanship that she has and watching all of what it takes to put a half time set together is insane! But the game, oh the game it was amazing. To see the excitement shift from the Falcon fans to the Patriot fans is indescribable. We were sitting on the Patriots side with just a few Falcon fans around and one teams fans always goes home a winner you know that going into the game but you never think your team is going to not bring home the trophy. Some cried tears of joy and absolute excitement and others stood in shock and disbelief. Having no skin in the game and not emotionally connected to either team it was something I could really just look around and soak in!
HUGE thanks to everyone that cheered me on, my customers, VIPS, and my team, family and my husband for always believing in me and supporting me no matter what crazy ideas I have up my sleeve . XO
