How to Earn Your Next Trip

in Business, Incentive Trips, Tips, Travel on 04/12/17

<——–This could be you on your company’s next incentive trip! Living it up, on a beach somewhere with fruity drinks in your hand and not a care in the world. Well some cares but on beach time there seems to be less worries!

So just like with everything in life knowledge is power. Well in this case, knowledge can also mean TRIPS! The more you understand what is involved to earn your company’s trip the better. When you have the low down you can break down what you need, the time frame that you have and set goals and targets along the way.

You need to know the time frame that you have to earn your trip

Find out when can you start earning points and when is the last day to enter points is important because trust me, you DO NOT want to wait until the 23rd hour to enter the last of your points. Nail bitters only make good movies.

FULLY understand how you can earn points

Understand if your company just offers points for personal sales, team sales or do they provide you points for other things like promotions, team building/recruiting or attending meetings or conferences.

Understand additional requirements

Most companies have other requirements that must be completed even if all the points have been earned. Some have promotion requirements fast start requirements, or a requirement of people achieving a certain level.

So once you know the time frame, how to earn points, any additional requirements, and if there are bonuses; grab your calendar for some goal setting. I like to take the TOTAL points and divide by the time frame to find out how many I need each month of for a time frame I set for myself. It could be weekly, monthly quarterly or however you determine. I also set a date of when I want to have all my points so that I can ensure I push myself!

EX: 30,000 points / 12 months = 2500 points per month

You will also want to break down other requirements and set goals around those also.

Personally I push myself to try to earn the trip early so that way it doesn’t come down to a frantic last month freak out of how am I going to get the rest of the points needed.  I have been there, the last month push where you are so close, to close to not get it. It’s stressful, so don’t let yourself get there. PUSH THE WHOLE TIME! Be sure that every month, you are looking at where you are. Are you on track and on target with your goal or are you a bit behind? If you are behind make sure you come up with a plan and way to make up those point in the months to come. Honestly I am a trip points fanatic. I work and re work and re work to figure out the combination of points that I need to get there. I am obsessed about the trip, points needed to get there and getting there. Get me to the beach!!

One of my biggest tips is to use your trip as a business plan. Your company is going to create the trip around targets that they want you be working towards. Make it one of those non negotiable goals so that no matter what you are getting it! Get your family on board, and if you can take a plus one get them on board also. Nothing is better than someone that wants to go on your free trip pushing you and supporting you also. So, put your trip on your vision board. Keep it in front of you and if you are someone that LOVES to check off things then make a really awesome tool for yourself (if your company doesn’t have one) so you can celebrate your small successes.

I know if you are determined and you want it bad enough you will get to the beach and no excuses or life circumstances will get in the way!
