Is this you….Your kids are out of school, you have play dates planned or you want to, you have a vacation(s), your companies convention (conference), and want to enjoy life? Guess what? If this isn’t you this is your team, your friends or your family’s mentality. We are conditioned to pack as much as we can into our summers because we feel it’s a limited amount of time and there for things that are important to us throughout the year take the back burner. We start to say things like, “it’s only a couple weeks, I will do it after the kids go back” or “I really want to spend the most time possible now with my kids” or the best “I just feel guilty working my business while my kids are home”. Even if you don’t have kids you might resonate with some of those excuses. Well I am here to tell you this is the time of the year you don’t want to let your business hibernate. Let me break it down for you.
What we do today is going to affect our businesses 30, 60, and 90 days from now. The actions we take today are going to lead to the momentum we have in August and heading into the fall and the most income generating time of the year! Businesses don’t have light switches that you can turn on and off. Unfortunately that would be kind of amazing, like eh I am done in this room for a bit I will come back. Think of it as more of a dimmer switch… Yes you can dim the light on your business for what seems like a harmless 5-10 weeks and then try to get your business bright again but what happens when you use that dimmer to “brighten up your business” it takes time (granted when you turn on a light it takes seconds, but hear me out) The room doesn’t go from dark to bright immediately. It gradually builds up electricity to, BOOM make the room full brightness. If you want FULL TIME income or business income from your business you cannot take off the summer. I repeat you cannot let June and July define you. NOW is the time and over the next 10 week to DOMINATE so that you have a rocking fall.
If your company is like the one I am with, we get a new catalog in the fall. You know that that means, that means new products to share with my customers. So why wouldn’t I want to get more customers before then? Why wouldn’t I want to create new vips, get new potential leads for the business opportunity and put more cash in my pocket.
I have some key steps that you can take over the next 10 weeks to just kill it in your business and put some money in your pockets. The key for me when looking at these steps is that they all have to do with ramping up your personal business in every aspect. You don’t have control over when your team wants to work and when they don’t but you do have control over your priorities, actions and activities!
7 steps for dominating your business this summer:
1. Grab your calendar and look at the next 10 weeks
We will then work backwards. Mark off your vacations, days off, play dates, plans with friends, appointments and anything else that you have schedule already or know you will be scheduling. Now grab a highlighter and highlight the days you are going to work, have parties, be available for one on ones and when you will even be around for online parties.
2. Set your goals
Is your goal going to be monetary (commission in your pocket), parties, teammates, sales, your companies trip? I usually figure out what is the most important thing for me in life and start there. For me I want to buy a house so I am setting my monetary which will also help with sales, parties, teammates, and our trip.
For me I set a in my pocket goal and work backwards. If I need to make X amount of commission I work to figure out what sales I will need to get me there. It will really all depend on your companies commission and bonus structure but remember we are looking at just your personal business and sales.
Let’s say 1000 would drastically increase life for you. That’s going to be about $3500 in sales needed over the next 10 weeks (that will obviously be different based on your company’s compensation). Continuing to work backwards we are going to break that $3500 up over 10 weeks. So to meet our goal of $3500 we will need to sell about $350 per week to get there. Then from that figure out how many parties you will need. Will they be in home, online, one to ones. This will depend on how you work your business and how badly you want this goal.
I also would look at how much you typically sell before you get a new team member. This will also be important to look at if you have a sales and team building goal!
3. Set priorities and actionable items
Now that we have our calendar set and our goals laid out we need to figure out where to start, where to stay and what to focus on. How many power hours to we need weekly and what will we work on. If you want sales and commission, parties, selling, follow up and hostess coaching are going to be huge! I would start with those areas. Anything that isn’t going to generate you money can wait until after the 10 weeks! In your calendar create goals daily; like, how many parties do you want, how many no’s are you looking for, how many conversations do you want before you are done for the day?
One priority over the next 10 weeks needs to be looking at your areas of opportunity and education, pouring into you and growing. How can you educated and take time for this over the next 10 weeks? I recommend scheduling time or even creating a habit of doing this before bed or when you wake up. Those seem to be the two easiest times for me.
4. Social media strategies
What can you implement that is going to make an impact towards your goal? Is it growing your vip page, business page on Facebook, Instagram account or maybe learning more about different strategies. Choose 1 platform for the next 10 weeks and stick to that platform. This will help you reflect and see if what you tried, implemented and created was beneficial, worth it and increased your business to hit your goal.
5. Increased follow up
It’s so important whatever your goal might be for the next 10 week to focus and have scheduled time for follow up with past customers, hostesses, and even potential leads to help increase the order rate and possibly increase the average order amount. A lot of follow up is going to be relationship based but even if you follow up and touch base twice during the next 10 weeks your customer is going to remember you if they need to reorder. You could also be strategic and implement a follow up strategy, a referral program or even create a loyalty card or club. These would be great things to talk about while you are following up and give you a reason to reach out and follow up.
6. Try something that scares you
If you are reading this you and lets face it you are still reading this you are probably up for trying new things. I challenge you over the next 10 weeks to try something that scares you. Maybe that’s going live more in your VIP group or on your business page. Maybe that’s trying live on Instagram or trying a new style or way to party. You might be scared to follow up for fear of sounding salesy. HELLO, the more you practice the less salesy it’s going to be and will most likely help increase all areas of your business. It’s better to have tried and failed then never tried at all. (For some reason I don’t think that’s the quote but it sounds good)
7. Find People
Don’t just find anyone, that’s awkward and will probably lead to uncomfortable situations. Find people that are motivated and shooting for big things and share with them. Become battle buddies to push and share ideas to get there! Set lofty, big, scary goals together and be each other’s accountability partners. Find someone to push you. I even like finding someone that is where I want to be so that they can help lift me up, but please make sure you are providing value to them in some way. No one likes a leach. They say you are going to be most like the 5 people you hang around or spend most of your time with. If you have a big goal you better make sure those people are badass!
These are just steps to help you get started and pointed in the right direction. You still need to put a plan in place that works for where you are in your life and business and get after it like your life depends on it. DO NOT let the summer define your business for 2017. Don’t take no for an answer and keep pushing. Can’t wait to hear what goals you achieve and how freaking awesome your momentum is into the fall!
